Bond Trader turned Photographer: Humans of New York

I've been following Brandon Stanton's Facebook page and blog, HONY, for over a year now, and had no idea he used to be a bond trader in Chicago. I discovered this when I read the preface in his new/first book, which hit my doorstep yesterday. Anyone know this guy?

He has walked thousands of miles in NYC capturing photos of strangers he crosses paths with, and provides a brief caption exposing a glimpse of what is going on in each subjects lives.

I like his photography, and love the book.

Yeah, some of the stories people share get pretty personal. If you stopped me on the street I doubt I'd get very deep with my responses, but I suppose if you interview enough random people you can end up with a sample of interesting stuff.

I re-activate my FB page like once a month to check out his new stuff.

I got into photography recently and have been walking around Chicago taking pictures of shit. I find myself mostly using it as an opener to talk to random girls. Thinking of making fake business cards saying I work for an agency to expedite the process.

The moral of the story is that you can put the words "New York" on just about anything and someone will buy it.

Great find and thanks for posting. Really interesting. Def be a time killer today.

This. Not sure how I hadn't seen this before.
