My wife is interested in reading a nonfiction "finance" book that is informative but not utterly dull. Recommendations?

No. But the utterly dull part is the high hurdle. The stories Mr. Frey writes are likely based on actual events with some fiction embellishments, backstabbing antagonists, and romantic trysts built in.
