Can I bring my own Chair into the Office.

Just realized that sitting at an office for 8+ hours in my potential future might be painful for my neck and back. Interested in going to PE/IB.

Does anyone know if you can bring in your own chair. I was thinking like an gaming/racing style chair. Probably would go all black so it didn't stand out. Would probably go in early or later to bring in the chair to make sure I wasn't doing it during work hours.

Would my coworkers/boss shit on my for it. Its a chair so like. What's the worst that could happen

if going to a boutique, chances are they will have top of the line chairs - the boutique i was at had amazing chairs

if going to larger bank, chances are the chairs will be fucking shit - i was at a larger bank and the chairs there were literally 2 slabs of cushion put at 90 degress and sat atop some wheels. Very painful to sit on. HR were 'unable' to change the chairs

whether or not you can bring your own chair idk - I would think that you would need to have it approved by hr for health and safety reasons ie so the bank doesn't accept liability should somehting happen to you whilst using your own chair. HR may feel this is above their pay grade to sort out...

Funniest

Nobody is going to care. Sit on whatever you want. Just make sure you drag it into the office later in the evening so you don't look like a wang.

I got an ergonomic chair in quarantine so I was wondering about this too actually.

Thank you! DO NOT bring a gaming chair into the office, they suck and look ridiculous. I hope the company would have some decent ergo chairs, if not get them to get you one or reimburse you for one

I have no idea about whether or not you can bring a chair, but if you cannot, then a lumbar support cushion would be the next best thing

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

I would suggest bringing in several cinderblocks into the office to sit on, because they tend to keep you alert, focused, and in an upright position due to their rigidity.

What do you think your comp is going to look like if they aren't even stocking the ubiquitous professional office chair?

In all seriousness, don't bring in a Gamer's chair. You are trying NOT to stand out in any way that isn't for being an excellent analyst. If you have a legitimate back issue then of course talk to HR and they will work something out. Otherwise, just use the chair they give you- it doesn't sound like you have a job or an uncomfortable chair yet so maybe one step at a time...
