crunches don't get you "ripped" they only make your ab muscles stronger. Crunches do not burn the fat on your stomach off, only lots of cardio and eating well will do that. So the answer is no.
You cannot target the fat you want to lose in certain parts of the body. You eat right and do cardio (Time > 20 minutes sustained high heart rate) and you will lose fat all over.
If you you are asking if you can have a strong, healthy body doing only "body weight" exercises like push ups, pull ups, dips, crunches, etc. - yes, you can. But you will have a different overall body shape and look than someone who lifts weights.

Oh yes I realize in addition to the cardio, but I wanted to know if you do cardio, pushes, and crunches can you get ripped and look like you work out, or is the only way to do this is by lifting weights?
To get "ripped" you need to loose body fat. However, ab definition, is in large part due to genetic characteristics. Some people will cut down to 6% BF and still not have pertruding abs muscles. Others can cut to 8% and have bulging abs.
take a survey before asking....
ask who have a six pack....and are ripped....
i guarantee most of them will be a lil bit overweight....how many ripped bankers do you know?
About 20 minutes a day; I do it every morning before work. Best shape I have ever been in and I was a varsity athlete in college (not that that means anything). Anyways, it's a good workout for people who don't have time to spend hours in the gym i.e. everyone in Finance.
I was a college athlete and used to work out religiously (2-3 hrs a day, 4-5 days a week). I rarely have time to work out now, but I am still ripped. At my best I was 170 with 5% body fat at I am 5'10". I would kind of have to agree that it is mostly dependant on genes because even some guys that were rediculous athletes in college and worked out insane amounts did not have 6 packs. I am lucky that I can drink beer everyday now and still have a tight sixpack. For the OP, pushups and situps are legit alternatives to making it to the gym if you are really pressed for time. You probably won't get to be as big as Dan Bush though.

Dan Bush is probably the ugliest mofo at Yale. Ugly people usually try to compensate for their ungliness by getting "big." The ladies hate that look, though.
tigerrug I totally agree with you. Crossfit is fucking ridiculous and works better than anything. I played college football (take it for what's worth) and the workouts are as effective as anything I've ever done/seen/heard about. You will see a difference quickly. Only downside is the workouts are an absolute killer and while they usually only take 20 minutes I feel absolutely awful for the next 30. I don't know the science beyond crossfit, but I would assume your metabolism freaks the fuck out from working that intensely and burns calories at a heightened rate for hours after you stop working out.
Hahaha. Yeah, the juice monkeys tend to try to make up for what they lack with their disproportionate muscles. Every time I see people talking about working out on this forum though I think about how Dan would chime in at every opportunity about how he was on his 9th cycle and bigger than ever.

I see that you're a first year. Could you imagine a MD seeing a monkey, in the literal sense, like Dan Bush -an ugly guy with a huge chest. It's disgusting.
yeah basically. Some workouts are harder than others, but you can just do the one thats up or look around and find one you think looks good. Its supposed to go hand in hand with the Zone diet, so for optimal results you might want to take a look at that as well. I heard from my maniac crossfit buddy that the guys off "300" got jacked doing crossfit for 6 weeks or something before the movie, but I haven't bothered to prove that.

Getting "ripped" = losing body fat.

how many hours does everyone get per week to work out (if you're ibanking)?
cardio + good diet + ab workouts (preferable some with weights) = six pack
unfortunately some eople will never have visible abs regardless of effort due to their body composition (genes)
for the rest, it one things getting abs but keeping it is a different all game... except you are black or chinese!!1
they seem to be more defined naturally compared to other races

I just checked out the site and it seems pretty interesting. All you do is follow the posted workout for that day?
