COVID Beards: Should they stay?

Like many, I used this opportunity to grow out my facial hair since there may never be another chance to get away with it. After several zoom conferences, people seem to be in favor of beards and are always surprised by those who chose to grow them on my team. I was wondering who else grew out their facial hair and if they plan to keep it when they return back to the office.

Were beards not ok at banks pre-covid?? I feel they have completely normalized in the last couple of years, a bunch of corporate lawyers we worked with even have them. I have had a beard for the last 3-4 years, never been a problem (most of the partners at my fund have also have / had them). I was growing a playoff / lumberjack beard during covid, but it got pretty scruffy and not the best with summer so I had to end the experiment, but as long as it's trimmed, I don't see what the issue is.

At my firm not many people have facial hair. Those who do seem to be at the associate/VP level, not many senior bankers have beards. Maybe 1/30 people.
