Was thinking of this the other night when using the app - great idea IMO.
Night Eye is a good chrome extension for this. It’s not free but I think it helps. It’s not perfect either, a custom dark mode for a website is far superior. But it gets the job done.

hey guys, this is on the product road map (at least for the app), but dev team is just slammed with a major upgrade we've been working on since December...it's all backend so not something users will even see but it's a huge investment to get the site from Drupal 7 up to Drupal 8 which will allow us to build and iterate better/faster going fwd with our dev team. that is probably not happening until July, so in the meantime our capacity to release new features, etc is really hampered, but I'm hoping the second half of 2020 we can aggressively start rolling out a lot of these (across mobile app and site).
As an aside...we just rolled out a MAJOR mobile app redesign, so we're not sitting still... :-)
