Diversity Recruiting in Closet?

Hey everyone. I have yet to begin applying for IB internships so I have a question in regards to how they handle their LGBT diversity. For context, Im a bisexual guy who hasn't come out to anyone and honestly don't ever really plan to. I have no problem stating my sexuality on my application if it will help me during recruiting, yet I wouldn't want it to turn into a public thing where next thing you know my face is on a bank's linkedin page considering Im also from a homophobic country/family.

Can LGBT people in the IB industry give me insight into what the experience is actually like? If the LGBT diversity thing is simply u just apply earlier and meet with some gay higher ups for some coffee thats fine, but I wouldnt want it to be a public thing to all my coworkers and it somehow goes back to my peers.

You should look into Out for Undergrad. Covers a lot of those bases you mentioned, and it provides support for these types of situations. It gave me the courage to be my authentic self

I definitely agree with the whole parading around thing which is why I wouldnt tell them about me being closeted at least not until I start work. But maybe I thought they care more about just the number/data of higher lgbt than the actual social media promotion stuff. The only reason I feel inclined to even do the diversity thing is because Im an international student which I feel like lowers my chances so I must somehow increase them. I think I just am too unfamiliar with what the process of diversity hiring is like for me to decide if I should do it or not

Sexuality is your personal thing. If someone says I am curious to know what is it then that would raise red flags. I am in the closet, too come very homophobic country and used it to recruit. You will be fine no one is gonna talk about it or even mention in the interview. If anything arises they will ask and just be to the point that you don’t feel comfortable with it being flaunted. Feel free to reach out too. Also OUT requires you to be out of the closet I believe. I learned about it after I finished recruiting so someone who use would actually be able to talk better about it.
