Do chicks give a F about you working in PE?

I’m a student working in a student role in a VC firm.

planned to do tech buyouts after uni.

when I told people ( girls, friends, older people you might wanna impress…) it seemed like nobody gives a FU*K about someone working in a “prestigious” bayside role….

and you know what - that’s should be the fuckin case! Why would I want people to care what I do for a living?

Honestly I’m thinking to show my big ass middle finger to this soul sucking industry and build a business. Sure, I’ll probably fail. Multiple times. But eventually I’ll get it right…

Suck my di*k,

Kashish.

Dude most chicks don't know the difference between a fucking bank teller and a hedge fund analyst, all they'll notice is how much cash you flash (and if that's all they care about you're in for a rude awakening).

You’d only attract the wrong types of girls if they’re into you for your job / title

“bayside role” - haha to the SF crowd, I like it  … clever

They don't five a shit if you work in PE or any other finance industry.  At that age, they mostly care about how you look and if you are not an asshole.  If you good looking and not an asshole, you should have no problems with girls.

I used to work at a very prestigious company in NYC and would just give chicks my business card when meeting them and would just say “text me.” And had a hit rate of 50% or so which is good if I’m giving out 4 - 6 cards per night.

This one girl in my friend circle saw me doing this and said “why do you just give chicks your card and walk away?” “What chick would be into that?” So I gave her my card and told her “text me.” She was pissed, but I knew she liked it. She got hammered one night and told me to come over. Surprise surprise.

I have not had a business card in a long time, haha.   A 50% hit rate is good but that must be a very expensive lifestyle unless you just want to see if you can get them to text.

Agreed. Literally no one cares. The only thing related to the job people in your life care about is the impacts on your ability to do things outside of work and the money. Remember. This part of finance is a super niche industry. Most people have no clue whatsoever what you actually do. Most people generally don’t care about what one does for work period. Most jobs, people don’t care about. There are only a very narrow set of jobs that people actually find interesting; that isn’t one of them.

Agree 100% with this. Only thing to add here:

No one really cares "where" the source of money comes from, so long as you have it. Money 1000% matters in dating. Not sure if yall realize, but alot of people our age struggle with money in general. Not poor per se, but the jobs they do do not pay enough to help the modern day 20-30 something year old afford the finer things in life. Most of my friends not doing finance are living pay check to pay check.

My guess it gives an element of admiration when someone slightly older or your age is making just as much as your parent but just as young as you? Idk just a thought.

as a "chick" i only give a shit that the guy works hard and doesn't back away from the challenge of making it to PE. doesn't really matter what you do as long as you're motivated to be really good at it. the thing with pe/ib roles is that you have to be that hardcore to get in, so it shows you the guy can work hard. if a girl doesn't give a shit, good for you. most girls who are motivated and want to do well in life on their own merit give a shit about how motivated their partner is lol

the problem with the types of dudes who ask stuff like this is they believe women are valuing them solely based on their job/income, when in reality it's that they are valuing themselves solely on their job/income, because they know conciously or not that the rest of their personality isn't up to par.

When it comes to attracting women or a partner (and not talking about just paying escorts), there are depreciating returns with how much you can work on yourself. For many women, they care 'does he have a career/ambition/passionate about his work?' as a check the box and move on from that. The average sexual partners for someone that posts on levels.fyi is probably close to 0, despite having top 5% incomes. If you are a finance dork who thinks being in PE is a line jump to being a cool badass because that's what the movies and memes tell you then you will be sorely mistaken, and lose out to Big 4 state school Derek who is actually well rounded.

Tho there certainly are niches of chicks in NYC that are finance chasers. But do you want that?

If it’s not Blackstone, GS, JP, Blackrock and you can flash the brand value they give zero shits about what you actually do in the company themselves you can be back office and you will have the same effect.

If your at a no name boutique or mm firm and start getting into special sits structures or even pure play PE your going to lose 9.6/10 girls.

How it might go: I work at Goldman -> Oh nice that’s cool (slightly impressed and decides to entertain the conversation) -> yea I buy companies and shit (you lied or your overplaying your hand) —> Sounds interesting (she thinks you’re well off and career oriented)

Now there are two ways this goes she’s a money hungry girl that will suck you dry and leave you in the dust at any sign of weakness or if she’s a valuable god-fearing female you would have entered phase 2 diligence which is 70% of the equation. Phase 2 diligence has to do with your character , integrity , charisma/confidence (massive), looks/fitness , hygiene, how you dress, your social circle and family.

Dude wake you’re a beta male. If I worked as a McDonalds clerk I could bag 10x the chicks you could. Your mentality and perspectives are rudimentary. I hope you lose your virginity soon.

I usually just tell girls I work in investing (if they ask) and that's it. Otherwise don't even bother bringing it up

There are broke af bartenders who are ploughing dumb thots every weekend while the avg finance guy who is making 3-5x that is maybe getting lucky 5x per year. More about game than anything else man, you can even sell being unemployed with some BS like being an entrepreneur

There are the gold digger types you can for sure get if you've got tables every weekend or you're rocking a Ferrari, but that's a much higher tier of wealth than an associate or VP in PE can realistically have

Most women don't care about the job or prestige per se. It's moreso the lifestyle that your high finance job could afford them. Aka, be ready to drop some coin to keep the hot model around. At the end of the day, if the only value you demonstrate to women is your wallet (not saying working in high finance and having a personality are mutually exclusive, btw), that's all the value they'll extract from you. Be also prepared for her to cheat on you behind your back with a guy she's actually attracted to.

The "jobs" that actually seem to get the most interest from women IME are things like being in a band, a surf/ski instructor, photographer, etc. Nobody besides other finance bros want to hear about how you sat in front of Excel for 14 hours the other day to make an educated guess at best about how a company will perform financially
