do financial advisors still cold call?

I just launched my company yesterday - simple software company that could help anyone in an outbound sales role book more sales meetings (financial advisors, insurance brokers, software sales, etc).

Cold called some financial advisors yesterday/today and a number of them told me that they don't even cold call. Although one guy thought it was interesting and told me to call him back on Monday (cha ching). Were the other ones lying?

Can any financial advisors shed some light on what percentage of financial advisors do cold calling? Let's keep it focused on the smaller financial advisory shops I'm not going to be able to get Merrill Lynch to use my product lol.

Sounds horrifying to me.
