Does anyone even ask "Why This company" anymore?
I've had around interviews with around 10ish companies in the past few months and not a single time have I been asked "why this company". I know it's an essential question to have ready, but it's almost never actually asked, in both my cases and for some of my friends as well. What are y'alls thoughts?
For context, I'm interviewing for FT positions post-grad.
I have only seen boutiques ask it. In which case I think it does become a fair question, never had a BB ask that.
I do recruiting (BB) and sometimes ask it. It's just a chance for you to tell me about people you've talked to and what they said, unique policies or company news you know about, or recent deals we've done.
Trust me, we know all BBs are the same, it's just trying to see how much research you've done.
Itz cus your base starts at 10k higher. I
I find this question is something you should proactively answer. I always say why company XYZ and industry ABC after I walk through my resume/ story. It is something extremely easy to do, allows you compliment the corporate, and further display why you are a good fit/ align with company culture blah blah. It’s a chance to name drop people you’ve connected with as well.
