Does reinvesting dividends count as trading?
I own shares in the company I work for, and am restricted from trading. I didn’t realize my brokerage automatically reinvested dividends, and this happened a few weeks ago. Would this be an issue with compliance? Does dividend reinvestment count as trading?
Define "trading." I assume you mean that you have minimum holding periods for your investments, and/or that you are subject to blackout periods for when you can sell you can buy/sell your company's stock.
Either way, a dividend reinvestment is not going to be viewed the same as "trading" in the eyes of compliance.
