Looking for anything in particular? Just dinner or dinner/drinks? Cheap late night snacks to mitigate an over-indulgent evening at a pub? Japanese, Indian, American, Mexican, etc? Any particular neighborhood in the downtown area?
There are so many good places here that it is rather difficult to recommend something without any parameters....
Earl's has great food and they do take-out (don't let the hill-billy name scare you - they are anything but). I can't think of anything else in your location.

Earl's for the girls. ;)
OP, it depends on what you're looking for. If you want something quick and light that you can take back to the office you may want to check out Marche which is right inside Brookfield palce (right near the Yonge St entrance across from the Roots store). There's also a "build your own salad" place caled Fast Fresh Foods on the north-east corner of King and Yonge right next to Hero Burgers that's really popular.
i'm here from chicago for the year and the food has been terrible and very expensive everywhere. decent places were harbour sixty and origin. earl's is ok. a couple of smaller italian places have been my favorite meals.
all red meat tastes like water. canoe restaurant tasting menu was a joke. all of chinatown seems disgusting. fifth grill looked like it had a chance but got very bad menu choice (venison). i've been eating in for all but maybe 1 meal a week.
what do people actually do in this city? it seems like a much worse version of chicago and all the torontonians seem deluded in their own bubble, unable to admit their city sucks.

Manpuku, Alice Fazooli's, random joints in Chinatown/Koreatown
Something near Brookfield Place. Preferably not fast food. Restaurant with a decent takeout menu would be best.

Bymark or Hy's if you can afford it. I've heard Take Sushi is decent, never been there myself though. Just walk along King St. and experiment.
Frequented Bymark during Summerlicious. Unfortunately, my Visas can't sustain that kind of eating much longer. Ended up with Springrolls on Front.
Spring Rolls is good and has take out. Nothing formal or fancy about it (actually looks more like a club), but it taste pretty good.
Bymark, Ki's, The Keg, Jacks are the ones that come to mind.
I really like Jump...
