Dumbbells in Office
I work better after I work out. Would it be weird if I brought dumbbells to the office? Or no? I think a quick lift mid day would be beneficial

Would help with work life balance too
Dude, no, and this is coming from a guy who hits the gym twice daily (AM cardio + PM weights) A putter in the office is a group decision.
Serious question, how do you have the energy to workout twice a day? For me a quick 10 min power nap and some pre workout helps, but honestly I’m beat after a long day
I usually work out twice a day and currently am training for a marathon. I would say it is a slow progression, you have to train your body for that amount of volume. Proper warmups and cooldowns also will do wonders for your body.
Lmao wait you’re the espresso dude. I need to get on that
Honestly? the routine helps, the short commute helps (30 min door to door when I'm not WFH, and yes that's from Jersey) Also, the total time isn't that bad with an in-building gym. the morning 5k is a bit over 25 minutes, let's call it 30 counting going downstairs and heading back up. Evening weights are maybe 40-50 depending on what I'm doing. I also never have to deal with waiting for machines by going at 6am and 10pm. I still skip about 4 sessions a week.
I would recommend a resistance band tho
That’s actually not a bad idea. I just need something simple mid day to get the blood flowing
What about a walk for coffee
Anyone have an office with a gym downstairs? That would be the ultimate scenario for me
I’ve worked at an office with a gym and showers and a locker room. I used it sometimes. 12pm - 1pm workouts were acceptable. Actually, if you didn’t have any projects due or meetings, it was fine to go to the gym at any time during the day.
When I was in an office like that a few of us naturally just started showing up about an hour early to workout downstairs and then clean up and head up to the office. One of the best non-monetary perks ever.
walk in power walking your 2.5lb pinkies and power walk those bad boys right out at the end of the day
Just say it’s paperweight
Moving so much paper you need a barbell and some 45's
Agree with everyone else that dumbbells are a bridge too far. Resistance bands should be fine, just don't do any exercises where you're attaching them to anything.
Also, it's totally fine in most groups to go work out during lunch, either downstairs or find something within a few blocks.
Wouldn't that make you sweaty for the entire work day. I like to work out in the morning too, but I definitely need a shower afterwards before hitting the office.
You would be alpha af if you did this. Start lifting as soon as your MD swings by to get give you a task, and say, "hold on, I gotta get in 5 reps rn, hold on"
Then bring in a vitamix and aggressively make protein smoothies at least 3 times a day.
Make sure to get the loud, obnoxious protein blender while at it
We had an EA do this. Got shut down by MD real quick.
Just take it one step further and get the standing desk with a built in squat rack.
Gotta complete the set up with a Peloton in the bg
Now we’re talkin haha if you drill holes in the reams of paper, those could be used as weight plates
Adjust sleep schedule and work out in the morning
The only person who I have seen with dumbbells in the office also had a toaster oven under his desk also. So, ya... IYKYK
A man of convenience, I like it haha
Kinda random, anyone remember when George Costanza installed a bed under his desk at work? Now that’s convenience
Reminds me of the GS MD in Germany that bench pressed his hot actress wife
