Ending my life @ 9:00AM tomorrow

im really struggling with recruiting in investment banking right now. it feels like im not getting anywhere and its making me feel totally hopeless. LinkedIn is so depressing too—seeing everyone’s updates and success stories just makes me feel worse.

au revoir gentlemen.

For every person you see succeed, there are thousands of others who fail. Keep preserving and you’ll get there. Don’t judge yourself based on other people’s biggest achievements. I’m in the same boat as you with recruiting as a rising senior and international student. Just gotta keep your head up and keep at it. People love and care for you, and you gotta realize how lucky you are and be grateful for it.

Theres bankers in the industry already that want to kill themselves. Grass is not always greener.

You don't live to work, theres more to life. You probably have hobbies that you want to continue, friends that you still want to be with, things you still want to see.

I was in the same boat. Please just zoom out. You’re young. Make some sacrifices and extend your timeline, everything feels better when you zoom out.

Looking back, I miss the struggle- it gave me purpose. The journey was awesome. Appreciate the rough times. This is apart of your story.

I really hope this isn’t a ploy to get someone to pity you and give you an offer or coffee chat.

If it’s serious, please take a step back and focus on yourself. Banking isn’t the entire world. It’s not worth your life.

I had a friend who committed suicide in 2021 right near the end of the COVID recession. I don't know the exact reasons why, but I speculate part of it was the hopeless job market back then.

In the next couple months, the economy opened back up and the job market went into a hiring frenzy. Everyone I knew ended up with offers, even people from non targets who seemingly had no chance of getting in. If only my friend had waited a couple months more, he would have easily landed something.

The problems you are facing now are temporary. I'm not saying the post-COVID hiring frenzy will happen again, but you never know how quickly things can turn around in your favor. Life is very interesting like that, so just enjoy the ride.

By the way, you should check out this movie, It's a Wonderful Life. Watch it before 9AM tomorrow, and I promise you'll be happy you did. It's my personal favorite movie and everyone should watch it at least once in their lifetime.

Think of your entire bloodline and all of the millions of sacrifices that were made to get you to where you are, and your thinking about doing this because there is a chance to make $150k for being a slave, relax brother, do it for your mom and keep living

Great comment, but strongly recommend you remove your phone number. Privacy is a privilege nowadays.

As someone that has been suicidal for long periods of time and depressed for years and has gotten through it and couldn't be happier in life. Everything will be fine and in the end you'll be so happy you didn't. Think of all the good things going on in your life. For me the only good thing has was family, they never knew about what I was dealing with not even close but just knowing they loved me and would be heartbroken without me here made me keep going for a long time. Think of friends, family, pets, life moments you were happy. Seeing the beach at sunset, that feeling when you go on a roller coaster, etc. There is a lot to life and it is so incredibly complex with how many different ways someone can feel happiness, do not let one aspect of the entire big picture of life determine your overall mental state and well being. I wish you the best and from personal experience in this case the grass is always greener when you get through it and start to genuinely smile and laugh again, trust me. Hope you read these all these comments because we want you back on this forum tmr and for a very long time buddy :)
