Eric Adams is a Goner
I'm throwing this here, AOC said he should resign, by 9am I think Chuck Schumer will say the same:
NYC Mayor Eric Adams Indicted After Federal Corruption Probe (2)
- ‘I am innocent and I will fight this,’ Adams says in statement
- Some Democrats urge him to resign as he seeks re-election
By Laura Nahmias
(Bloomberg) -- New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted following a federal corruption investigation, according to people familiar with the matter, a stunning development that calls into question the political future of the man in charge of running the biggest US city.
The indictment is sealed and it’s not yet clear what charge or charges Adams will face, said the people, who declined to be identified speaking publicly without authorization.
On Wednesday, after news of his indictment was made public, the mayor made it clear that his stance had not changed.
“I always knew that if I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target — and a target I became,” Adams said in a statement. “If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit.”
Previously, lawyers for Adams have said that their own investigation showed no evidence of illegal conduct by the mayor. The New York Times first reported the indictment.
Widening investigations of City Hall first became public when FBI agents raided the home of an Adams campaign fundraiser last November. The probes accelerated in recent weeks, prompting the mayor’s chief counsel, police commissioner and schools chancellor to quit this month, and two former fire department officials were charged with bribery.

Scrutiny of Adams — who is seeking re-election — and his administration had accelerated since Sept. 4, when federal agents targeted senior officials. First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, City Schools Chancellor David Banks, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Philip Banks, and Police Commissioner Edward Caban had their homes searched or cell phones seized.
After his home was searched, Caban resigned, saying the investigation had become a distraction. Banks announced plans to resign at year-end, and Lisa Zornberg, chief counsel to the mayor’s office, abruptly quit on Sept. 14.
On Wednesday, US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called on Adams to resign, becoming the most prominent Democrat to call for the mayor to step down. After news of the mayor’s indictment broke, multiple Democrats, including former city comptroller Scott Stringer and Brooklyn State Senator Zellnor Myrie, two Democrats who are challenging Adams in the June 2025 mayoral primary, also called on Adams to step down.
“We need a leader who is fully focused, without distraction, on the enormous challenges we face — from housing affordability to public safety,” Myrie said. “A mayor under the weight of a serious indictment can no longer do that — and today I am calling on him to resign.”
The Adams case is being handled by the office of Manhattan US Attorney Damian Williams, who has overseen several public corruption prosecutions since he was appointed in 2021. Most recently, his office won the conviction of New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez for accepting bribes in exchange for political favors and acting as a foreign agent for Egypt.
Earlier this year, an appeals court revived a bribery case against former New York lieutenant governor Brian Benjamin, after a federal judge threw out the charges in a test of what constituted quid pro quo in politics.

No clue how we got an Africa tag.
WSO racist fr. Just cause the guy's black.
I hate the guy, but because he's a cop, not because he's black.
I think he meant about WSO automatically adding the Africa tag lol.
I know. I still hate the guy for his politics and b/c he's a cop
Can’t believe Andrew Yang couldn’t beat this guy
There should be a huge sweep periodically at random, I bet they'd find so many more blatantly corrupt politicians. Also, IMO, the penalty should be death. It's pretty cut and clear when there is corruption, and they won't really be a productive member of society in the future anyways.
Just look at the blatant insider trading in Congress. Imagine what goes on behind public's eye.
I have a coworker who blames this all on Bloomberg. He argues that that NYC functions with a background level of corruption, but by being uncorruptable* Mike chased out a lot of the low level corruption and this is the snap-back at ridiculous levels. I'm not sure I believe him, but it's an interesting theory.
*How do you bribe a guy who doesn't care about money? His final term he turned down matching funds and didn't accept donations at all so he could write a check to his campaign. He bought the republican line on the ballot (no, seriously, he paid them to buy that ballot line and rename it) and outspent his democratic competition something like 50:1.
This is most big city government. Hell, in places like Boston, Chicago and San Francisco low level corruption is basically out in the open and an accepted way of doing business and getting things done.
Adams clearly pissed too many party people off and didn’t stay in his lane for this to happen.
There's a very interesting article from the Atlantic a few years back that talks about the power of Bloomberg's money.

Dude basically would self-fund new initiatives for the city like bike lanes that would typically require cuts to other services, increased taxes, or debt which allowed him to bypass much of the gridlock and logjam of city politics. Definitely an interesting case study and I'd love to see more research/literature on the impact his personal fortune had on his mayorship.
A former borough president, a completely nonsense job that exists exclusively for corrupt reason, is corroupt. Who would have thought.
He spoke out about how the migrants are overloading the system and destroying NYC. Shortly thereafter this pops up. Color me not surprised. Speak against the party and you'll get crushed. That said he's a douche and a clown, so good riddance.
Edit: Also he gave P Diddy the Key to the City... a nice look at the quality of his friends & decision-making.
How are you a literal conspiracy theorist. He accepted bribes for first class flights and other campaign donation gifts. His circle did the same. The FDNY Chief accepted cash on the side for faster fire code approvals. Not much too it, just wire fraud, bribery etc etc. This isnt some frand conspiracy. He was a corrupt politician and will pay the price.
How does anyone in this day and age go through life this profoundly naïve? You think he's the ONLY sitting mayor to have accepted bribes? You think Adams is the ONLY corrupt politician in NYC, the biggest and one of the oldest cities in the US? You genuinely believe that those nothingburger charges are enough to cause the establishment of the Democrat party to turn on the 2nd black mayor of one of the party's strongholds? Good lord I almost envy this impressive level of blindly walking through life. When this was announced NONE of the charges were even public so bringing that up is meaningless to all the comment prior.
Kushner and Trump did more. They sold the White House to Saudi prince so he could bail out Kushners failing real estate business.
This Eric Adams is just some small minority fish easy to catch.
