Fake wall in apartment

Will be starting FT in NYC next month and I'm planning to share a 2BR with 3 guys. We were going to split the living room in half and make a third bedroom. Where can I buy a 'fake wall' or something to divide the room? What have people done in the past?

It depends on how "thick" and "soundproof" you're looking to make this partition. Some dudes just install a line with a sheet draped over it. That works if you and your roommate a) don't snore b) rarely hookup or don't give a shit about the noise c) you're working 90 hours a week.

I wouldn't spend much time on it. You'll be working all of the time so you're not going to spend 8 hours sleeping at night with someone 5 feet away. Just toss a sheet up or something for the first couple of weeks and see how that goes.

Get bunk beds and embrace the fact you worked your ass off to land a job that requires you to sleep in a living room
