Faking URM/LGBLT for recuiting?

can banks call you out on these things? i figured they wouldn't question it since that would raise more issues for them. just curious though if anyone of you had stories of people who have gotten into serious trouble for doing so.

(disclaimer - was never going to try this).

DO NOT DO THIS.

LGBT is a big area where this is faked. You will get busted. You will get blackballed from this industry. You'll ruin your entire future.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT. They check.

They check your FB, they talk to your friends at work, they check your insta. What else do you think HR does all day?

Ha, yeah. I was in student government back in school and I got saddled with the responsibility of being the liaison with the Diversity Office. It was a solid mix of real problems (there's so much fucked up shit that happens to URMs that we're not aware of, that doesn't get discussed, and that lots of people just kind of take on the chin) and complete bullshit (a teacher giving you B- doesn't make him racist).

Students claiming to be bi or mixed race was a regular issue. We had a small handful of cases of students going to events like National Black and trying to Rachel Dolezal their way into an early offer. Even more cases of people going to ROMBA and saying they were bi or in the closet. The truth always gets out.

When people were caught, they were blackballed by career services. No more on-campus recruiting, no more access to our databases - it was over for them. One guy who got caught actually dropped out of school halfway through the year, he knew he was done for.

Bankers keep in touch, too. You screw up at one bank, and they tell their friends across the street. Word spreads. This is a small industry, you can't afford to fuck up like this.

For one, off top it signals you're an unethical liability nobody should hire. And if (when) caught, you'll be fired and blackballed from the industry.

All good. Sorry I snapped. I think this would be a pretty fucked up thing to do if someone were to try tho. Even tho you could theoretically get away with it, I just think it's bad.

Dayman?

Completely impossible for them to prove you're not bi. Or gay or lesbian. And if they fire you trying to say you lied, you sue them for millions of dollars. Might want to download Grindr or have some gay porn in your search history, though, just in case.
