Feeling apathetic about the World Cup this year
Normally I am always hyped for the World Cup, but this year I feel completely apathetic towards it. What is going on?? There is literally zero hype lol.

World Cup during fall/winter just seems odd...
The hype is being overshadowed with all of the Qatar controversies such as the labor issues, cost issues, and beer ban.
It is also just not the typical season, but a summer WC would be horrible in the Middle East
Our UK business partners looked like they wanted to strangle us through the screen yesterday. Had a big meeting during the game with Iran and fortunately they were winning, but they definitely let us know they weren't pleased.

Argentina being beaten by two masterfull goals pumped me up a bit. In my experience those tournaments get more exciting when the weaker countries get eliminated and you get some great matchups.
On a side note, i think the whole Qatar controversies are kinda tiring, everyone knows what goes on there, how they think of gays and stuff. A lot of people have a lot to say about that stuff, while wearing Nike's and listening through airpods, which are made where?
You guys know me, I'm as patriotic as they come, but I was really fucking happy the Japs beat our multi-culti equipe yesterday. Serves those idiots right for getting swept away by politics.

See, that is a classic rhetorical trick to fall on - "ah, but we are merely showing our solidarity for the persecuted". No, it's a demonstration of power and ideology, and my government expected to pull a big power show by demonstrating their (that is, in turn, of the German nation) commitment to make the unequal equal. That is unfortunately how my nation is - we react slowly, and then double, triple, quadruple down ideologically. What is unequal cannot be equal, no matter how much you force it. Just as a man can never become a woman, and we as Westerners are naturally disgusted by insects as a food source, just the same can only a man and a woman truly create life. If you as leader of the people and you as a system (see: REWE) decide to force everyone to confess that the aforementioned is not so, I am afraid I will not support your designated wave-and-smile troupe during this barely concealed show of ideology.
I think the games are getting pretty exciting with upsets and high goal tallies. If they keep this up it could be a decent world cup despite the controversies.
Because World Cups mean barbecues, beer, and swimming pools. Don't have that in winter.
