First Apartment - Furniture
Hey WSO,
I’m moving to NYC in a few weeks to start at a BB as a FT IB Analyst.
I’m starting to look at furniture and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the price range/basics I should get?
I was looking at Walmart or IKEA furniture as options (not trying to spend a fortune), but curious if it’s worth it to pay up for better quality? If so, do you have any particular stores you’d recommend?

Restoration Hardware has a lot of good pieces, but its expensive. I used to get 40% off there. I have one piece from Ikea - it was a $2K L-shaped black leather couch. I've had it for 6 years and it is bulletproof solid. I have a bunch of other rare furniture that I searched the internet and world to find.
Wayfair for furniture. Just don't buy the 10k closets that are suspicious with women's names on them. Other than that, Wayfair is your move.
Do we need a god ergonomic chair and standing desk??? Seems that people are going back to the office now

Would suggest checking out Kaiyo - they sell secondhand furniture and have some pretty great deals, though you’ve gotta keep an eye on the site. I got a couch that was originally from Room & Board and cost ~$2.5k for $500 and it was in great shape
