Florida State Senate
I'm 24 and I want to run for Florida state senate. I am a populist and think I could get President Trump's endorsement and get Bannon to be a senior advisor (or at least provide guidance) to my campaign ( will run on America First America Only) I have experience in DC, connection due internship experience. Was an intern on a winning gubernatorial campaign. Also, I grew up in Bethesda and would have institutional backing. I am in PE and think I could raise funds from my current fund backers as I am a decent investment professional.
What do you all think? Only bad thing is I've gotten a DUI during college (expunged but have a mug shot, hidden but will be found)- was a little bit of a party boy. Planning on running a ruthless, all out war campaign similar to Trump . However graduated cum laude from a local school.
Need opinions on my odds on winning. I have enough cash to buy a house in any district including Boca/Miami so initial funding is no problem and my parents are on board despite the embarrassment of the DUI. My best friend's girlfriend's dad is MF C suite employee who is a strong conservative who just recently moved to Florida. My parents are 60+ and set for life.
I know the Bannon and Trump thing is a stretch but if I ran on their policies I don't know why they wouldn't support me.
Also I work for a Miami based fund

My end goal is to replace Rubio because he is a weak coward. So is Tim Scott but I would get destroyed by Ivanka who I know is planning to run

I think connection to your community is more important at the state level. I wouldn’t move somewhere immediately and then run in that town. At the local level, people tend to vote for people they know.
Your background in pe doesn’t help because the common person doesn’t know the firm. (I know this is true because someone on my ballet in November was the grandkid of a well known mm. My district is old money and no one cared they had money cuz the other candidate did as well)
Agreed but campaigning is almost more about money than likeness. Look at Biden, Mitt Romney in Utah, Lindsey Graham when he was a rep, and plenty of others

Yes, all I was trying to say is if you want to be in the state senate (not the senator in Washington) you need some credibility (will be hard to just move and get elected) because the voting base is smaller. I personally vote along party lines for the big races but in the more local stuff I always vote for neighbors or kids parents I know from school etc.
Money is important but having some ties to the community is important in lower level races. Ex: my house rep is worth 80 million but I went to school with his kids and my parents partied at his house back in high school. Certainly didn’t vote for him just because of the money but it for sure helped fund his race.
And if you want to win, don’t go in a blue area. And don’t go anywhere where they love their current senator.
You think you can get trump to endorse a measly state senate race? As well as have Steve Bannon advise your campaign?
Did you mean the Washington DC senate? State senate is sort of a joke, no big hitter will care enough to advise you.
I disagree - look at Joe Kent. I know he is running for congress and is a green Barret but he has their support with no backing. I have already done preliminary calls and I have legit backers. I'm not saying it is guarantee but I've had conversations with Trump before during the gubernatorial race and he knows me by name and I know Bannon. Not well, but if I call him he will answer and he is essentially the new Rush Limbaugh given how successful his podcast is

You didn't answer my question, but if you mean the federal senate...i.e. knocking out Rick Scott or Marco rubio....good luck. Every big wig republican from the north moved to Florida the past 4 years and when a seat opens up it will be very competitive. Either a trump child, tucker Carlson(who declared Florida residency) a hedge fund ceo bro mega donor turned politician....it won't be you. Focus on sniping off a vulnerable Democrat congressman in Florida nearby Miami. Miami is becoming increasingly red and wouldn't be surprised if a blue district flipped (a few flipped red in 2020).

I'm not disagreeing with anyone. Given my age and lack of experience it will be an uphill battle. But if I run on Trump's policies and how based Florida is I think I have a good shot. But see Madison Cawthorn

Agreed, and I asked people to be ruthless so I love to hear the opposition. I need to hear it from sophisticated people before I go all in and this is the only forum I know with 85% smart people
