Girl Advice
Currently a junior in college and have secured a buyside offer so I've decided to finally pursue some other areas of life beyond recruiting. I know there have been loads of these posts, but I have not had any experience dating anyone / have not had any friends or sustained human interaction for the past three years (networking does not count), so I need some insight beyond my personal echo chamber. I've had a few girls recently express their interest in me, but they strike me as a bit insincere, fickle, and a bit arrogant. However, there is an international student in one of my elective classes - a small seminar - that I find myself quite a bit interested in. We've spoken a small amount, and she strikes me as being a bit shy, soft-mannered, and kind. Generally though, because of the way the class is, it has been near impossible for me to speak to her. I find that she may have been glancing at me during class a few times but not a certainty. My plan is to wait for her after class and ask for her number under the guise that I don't "understand" the content and move from there (kicking myself for not having done it today but want to be a bit 'strategic'). Assuming she even agrees to this, how do I somehow move things from a discussion about class content to about something more? Is there a way to avoid any potential awkwardness especially given how this class is very small (around 10-11 people)?

Agreed. Made a post like this a few months ago but just ended up going up to her. She wasn’t even in my class or anything, total cold approach. She wasn’t single but now there’s no “what if.” OP talk to her, be confident and just be social. If you can land an SA offer I’m sure you can talk to a girl.

Edit: you're a junior, so you could wait till end of the semester if you want to avoid potential awkwardness in class. But if you're thinking about awkwardness, that's already the wrong path.
How would you recommend phrasing it exactly? Would "Hey, so I was wondering if you were maybe to open to meeting outside of class. If that was to be the case, we could exchange numbers now" suffice?
Would honestly try and talk to her about non school stuff just as if you are trying to get to know her and ask her if she’s be down to do something outside of class (don’t frame the question that way lol have something in mind like going out to eat or drinks)

Stop thinking like this. Just do it. And don't disguise it by saying you don't "understand" the content. I've been in your same shoes. Your mind will jump to a million reasons not to do something, but in reality you are justifying your fear. Ask for her number and suggest that you guys grab coffee sometime. Just do it.
