Going on Vacation During a Summer Internship
Is this acceptable? Should I tell them before the internship or wait until I'm already working?

My view: wait until you get the offer and start discussing the details
There's no way that's gonna be looked upon favorably.
Your boss will think "You gotta be fucking with me". Your colleagues will think "You gotta be fucking with us". HR will think "You gotta be - Oh look! A bird!"
Don't do it bro
Will not be looked upon favorably at all. When you have a 10 or so week internship taking time off is not a good idea.
just wait after the internship... is it too hard???
that is some quality trolling.
Really poor timing on your part, if it's some sort of family thing, plan on missing it.
what year are you? if this is a post-junior year internship where you have hopes of receiving a FT offer afterwards then you are out of your mind to consider it. If you're a sophomore or dont care too much about your perception then do what you have to do, but no one is going to take kindly to "I always go to nantucket this time of year"
There are few methods more effective at drawing the scorn of your colleagues than this. Terrible idea.
Our view:
"You can't hold out for 10 to 12 weeks to show us how badly you want the offer? Thousands of other kids would kill for your opportunity."
A girl who summered in our group broke down in tears because she had not seen her boyfriend of four months in over a month. Pathetic.
It's only ok if your vacation is spent taking care of your 8 cats, because they need their daddy.
They would get shitty if you took vacation time during your first year. Don't expect a FT offer if you do this during an SA
Well it is my sophomore year if that makes the situation better. I'm not looking for a FT offer and due to getting screwed over on transfer credits I'm probably going to be a 5th year senior. Plus I go to school in NYC, so getting an internship during the school year shouldn't be much of a problem. I'm just looking for another stat on my resume at this point.
Worst case scenario, I only lose $200 if I decide not to go, so it's not a big deal.
I have a problem, I will do a summer internship in M&A this summer in London and my school needs me in France for graduation exams during 4 days!!! I sent a lot of emails to them but they do no want to make any adjustement for me. Do you think it is acceptable to ask for a week off for this reason? If I do not have the exam I do not get my diploma...
