I'm going to give the OP the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is not a troll. That being said, you should not be focused on where you want to drink, but what you want to drink. The answer to that question will lead you to the best watering hole. There's no guarantee you or your date will enjoy each other's company, but if you are indulging in something you enjoy, it won't matter. So be selfish, find a bar that caters to the alcoholic vice of your choice.

Puppy, don't get me wrong, I like Death & Co. but come on... There are so many spots to go with and you chose one that's in Alphabet City? Talk about way out of the way. That said, picking a place depends on what you're looking for and the kind of impression you're looking to make.
