Have you used a Career Coach?
Hey guys,
Been going through a bit of a rough patch, career-wise. Just started at a company in a role that I thought were both a dream goal, but now that I'm here, I'm realizing that I may not actually like this path at all. Wanted to see if any of you have used a career coach before, and maybe talk through your experiences? I appreciate any help.
No I have never used a career coach.
What are you trying to get from a Career Coach? What questions are profound that you are hoping to get answered that friend/mentors cannot?
I'm just constantly nervous about making the wrong move. I know it is helpful to make mistakes (will help me learn about myself more), but I feel like I don't really know 100% what I want to do. I thought maybe talking to a professional (or whatever that might mean in career coaching) would be helpful in me narrowing down what actually makes sense for me.
I'm sure a friend/mentor would be able to bring me back down to earth, but I don't think I have someone like that in my life. Maybe I really just need a good venting session before dropping $$$ lol
If you can find a mentor in your field / the field you want to break into that will be certainly more helpful than a career coach. Plus it'll be free and you'll be able to cultivate an important relationship, which can lead to further opportunities if lucky.
