Having trouble with being more well off than my family
Wondering if anybody’s in the same boat and can give some advice. Recently moved to NYC and started at a great bank making great money. My hours aren’t awful, and all around I’ve been having a life which I’m eternally grateful for.
On the flip slide, I come from a lower income family where my parents and sibling struggle with finances. They have places to live, but my living situation is definitely better than theirs. I’m in the process of paying off a mini mountain of student debt so haven’t been able to help them in the way I wanted to yet, and I’m starting to feel guilt about the way I live in comparison to them. I will help out my family and I want nothing more than to do so - my first bonus check after loans will hopefully help them buy a house. In the meantime, every time I have fun (which is incredibly easy in NYC) I can’t help but feel a little bit of guilt. Any advice would be much appreciated.
