HireVue Uses AI to Analyze Applicants

Hey monkeys,

Those HireVues that you have been doing are being analyzed by an AI. When you record yourself answering interview questions and submit them through HireVue, your body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and keywords are all analyzed and noted upon by an AI. After that, someone from HR then watches your video and reads the notes to determine whether or not you can really perform the tasks that the job demands. For example, if it's noted that you cannot maintain eye contact for too long and are applying for a job where you are required to meet clients face-to-face, it can severely damage your chances of securing that position.

Do you think that using an AI to analyze the applicant to cut the applicant pool down is a good idea? Thoughts?

Thanks for reading.

Lol. Appearance doesn't factor into what the AI measures, but the hiring manager who ends up watching your video might factor that into his/her decision -- you never know.

Too early to make it part of the process, as it's not normal. I had the opportunity to do one and it's uncomfortable to have to look at a timer while giving your answers. Most particularly I think if you're interviewing for IB/PE where you can site deals etc as examples it makes it more difficult. As it becomes more customary I can see the value but think it's too early to put any significant weighting behind it.
