How do you react when your Senior says that he does drugs?
I can't relate besides drinking out and partying with friends. Never did hardcore stuff and I don't know why he is telling me that. Does he want me to do some party drugs with him?

Career Resources
Your senior?
Is this like a senior in college or your mentor?
senior trader/mentor
It might be they’re being honest about it because they trust you enough to discuss such things. Or maybe they’re douchey and think it makes them cool to talk about it openly for no real reason. This is not an uncommon topic of conversation among lawyers and finance professionals in major metro cities.
Either way, don’t think anything about it. Keep it to yourself, and don’t feel pressured to do anything.
When I was an intern, one of the associates revealed to me he loves cocaine and I started selling to him. Word got around and I became the plug for 3-4 people. Eventually I got spooked that this would really fuck up my career eventually, and when I went full-time, I lateraled to another bank.
I thought coke usage in finance was an outdated joke?
Its not really outdated if people are still doing it.
Everyone loves coke
So this is how you network effectively.
“snow up my nose, it’s fucking ski time”
I went to my associate and said:
I cannot take this anymore I'm saying everything I've said before All these words they make no sense I find bliss in ignorance Less I hear the less you'll say But you'll find that out anyway Just like before Everything you say to me Takes me one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I need a little room to breathe 'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I find the answers aren't so clear Wish I could find a way to disappear All these thoughts they make no sense I find bliss in ignorance Nothing seems to go away Over and over again Just like before

I used to do drugs.
I still do, but used to, too.
haha - yeahh Mitch
I miss Mitch Hedberg, gone too soon! And sadly it was from drugs. Have several of his stand-up shows on DVD, may have to dig 'em out this week and roll up a lil sumthin' to watch it with.
"An escalator can not break -- it can only become stairs." Just thinking of how he delivered that joke, that shit still makes me smile.
How did he say he does drugs though? As in, he needs it to do his job, he does blow and parties hard, or smokes/does LSD for the vibe (S/O Steve Jobs).
In a way, he might just be telling you how he does his job, or that he needs to take the edge off in some way. It's kind of like if you were an athlete or bodybuilding and your mentor told you about the drugs they were taking to rehab; doesn't mean you should take it, but it's what they use for success.
personally, i would be stoked. ive always had to sneak around to do my drugs. this would be great for workplace transparency
I've had this workplace transparency with one boss - it is nice.
Honestly, I like coke. I've done it few enough times to count on the fingers of one hand because I'm worried that I'd grow to like it too much. Sometimes you just need to moderate. As a counterpoint, I became known as a great bong builder in college even though I couldn't stand the stuff, especially in smoked form. The aftertaste was nasty, and even as edibles eating everything afterwards wasn't fun.
