The goal is late-stage cirrhosis by 50 at the latest

per that calculator, 94, but I disagree with some of the stuff on dairy, sunscreen, and so on.
I could live to 120, I could die in 5 minutes, it's whatever :)
thought about doing but knew it would fuck with me. so nope
yeah that's fair, I'm also not doing anything with the information. I try to stay in great shape because I don't want to be sick (covid was the first thing I'd had in 3-5 years), I want to do the things I enjoy doing for a long time (surfing, long walks in cities, running, swimming), and I enjoy the way my body looks (pure vanity). if I knew I'd die at 50 I don't think I'd change my exercise routine
Till society collapses, hopefully.
Or the sun, either one would suffice.
The sun will collapse in 10 billion years. It’s unrealistic.
think it's 5 billion at this point
That's what they said 100 years ago
Surely you'll just get tired and just be in pain at 120, you'll be living on cortisone shots just to move.
300? No thanks. Imagine spending another 200+ years turning comments on the deck on Friday night.
Odds are, somewhere in the low 70s.
Not much longer than we live now to be honest. I know everyone makes a big deal of how technology is improving lives and we could potentially live to 150+, but that's just bullshit. Diet, better medicine and exercise means people make it to their 80s and 90s much healthier than every before but then the Big 2 creep in. Dementia and Cancer. Despite all the technological advancements around diagnosis, disease understanding and survival rates, dementia and cancer will still be the largest killers in the future. They may move from onset in your 50s and 60s to onset in your 70s and 80s, but they will still kill a huge number of people. Even if you become one of the lucky few to never get a cancer at any stage in your life, general breakdown of the body will occur. Life expectancy might hit the 90s for many countries, but we won't get past the 100 mark anytime soon and certainly not close to 120+.
I agree. Technology improving will prevent a lot more deaths in the 50-60 range and younger. Lot less car crash deaths in the future too.
I try to remember to bump this thread if I get to 150.
Agreed...I think its more we can sustain a better quality of life longer now (70 is the new 40 or whatever), but I don't think we can drastically improve life yet.
I mean, the question should be more, how long do you want to live, vs, how long do you think you'll live. For example, if you/your family have kids in 30 year gaps, when your 130 your kid will be 100, your grandkid will be 70, conceivable you could all be in the same nursing home if shit goes bad.
I would disagree because....
The lifetime risk of cancer is 50% meaning half of the total population is expected to get some form of cancer in their lifetime (source). Yes, cancer treatment rates and life expectancy have skyrocketed but that doesn't mean most have been cured. If you get Breast cancer when you're 50, you might have died at 55 30 years ago. Now you might make it to 65 or 70 but still die from it. Leukemia cure rates have been amazing, but a cure is technically defined as remission for 10 years. It could come back after that and you can also get other cancers throughout your life. You could be cured of leukemia when you're 10 and still get colon cancer when you're 60. Same goes for cardiovascular diseases. Treatable does not mean curative. You can survive 2 or 3 times longer now with a cardiac issue, but it will come back to get you down the line. There's no escaping it.
Cripplied old age has always been my biggest nightmare. Don't think body/ mind will last past 55 given the amount of stress I put it through. Would rather die happy young than shitting my pants at 90. Will to live might increase significantly if I have kids tho.
X
I’m more likely heading toward a fun 70 than a solid 90+
I’m headed to 117 seemingly.
The older you are already, the longer you can expect to live. E.g. if you are already 60 the chance of you living to 70 is higher than someone in their 20s.
Since I am in my 20s and average life expectancy is 80, i expect something like 85. Maybe 90 adjusting for income.
No one lives forever, no one. But with advances in modern science and my high level income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300
itt: we guess numbers
golide switch it up
goldie guess a letter
goldie gonna live to V

"It [an aneurysm] can happen anywhere at anytime, that's what makes it so terrifying" - Sterling Archer
yeah idk that I'm afraid of an aneurysm, I'm just afraid of it at an inconvenient time
while paying my mortgage
in between 1st and 2nd course and the steak's arriving
during sex
at costco
igreen bay is about to win the super bowl due to aaron managing the clock well, they're at the 15 yard line and there's 24 seconds left
alex pereira is about to fight izzy for the MW championship and I die right before a R5 knockout
right before I catch the best wave of my life (would be fine getting an aneurysm in the barrel tho)
just finished taking a shit but haven't wiped yet
Imagine during sex. You’re about to bust a nut but instead your body goes into shock and you’re butt naked about to die. What a way.
I'll continue my dark streak today by dropping this. I'll be happy to make 75, we have been great at expanding lifespan but not quality years. A human body isn't designed to go much past 80. The built in cancer defenses break cells down.
Built in cancer defense is naturally supplying cells with oxygen. In low oxygen environments, cancer is more likely to thrive.

Top 1 percent (by income) of men, on average, live until 90.
IIRC, upper east side life expectancy is 86.
Probably will be 100 by the time we die.
I probably got 20-30 years left. Don't work out, drink too much, and generally have no regard for my health.
So, you are happy with this predicament???
Or am I making this up?
If I do die early, I die. Don't really care
I'm going to die, get reincarnated as my MDs next child, and make his life hell by insisting on becoming an MLB pro despite having zero talent.
Forever, don't you?
My soul will live forever, but first my body on this Earth will probably only get to 117. Then I shall go to purgatory to purge my sins and then eventually will get to heaven for eternity.
I plan to die at 70 on the dot.

Hard to be certain because something like a car accident or being shot dead can happen. Only now is guaranteed, tomorrow may never come.
True
54 or 82 came to mind
Probably about 70 given my current lifestyle. I can't imagine there being a significant upward shift in life expectancies in our lifetimes, and I certainly can't imagine it coming with improved quality unless you're a member of the ultra rich. Not only would it put a significant strain on systems but it would also indirectly dampen a lot of the sense of urgency in day to day life (imagine slogging through a 2 year deal process because your MD knows he'll be living to 150 and can give you twice as many nits on the model).
