I hate the implied “I” - are you trying to say “(I) don’t hate work, (I) look forward to it.” or are you trying to command the OP “(You shouldn’t) hate work, (you should) look forward to it.”

I’ll take the why question that I predict is the rationale for about everyone and why the banking model works really:
1) The first 9 months I learned a ton, I felt the learning was worth it. It sucked but I was down for it.
2) Remainder of the year I stayed for the bonus, and really thought I would quit.
3) I tried recruiting and realized my opportunities were more interesting and paid more if I stayed 2 years. Also, by that point I had first years that shared the burden of most the really terrible parts of the job, I also knew how to avoid bad staffings. The job got much easier as a second year also I know I either accepted a job where I was paid less and that was less interesting or I just stuck it out the remaining 8ish months.
This forum is a classic venting method for these analysts. If any of them really actually thought it wasn’t worth it they would quit, but the truth is the job is terrible, but everyone stays in it because of the perks you enjoy the rest of your life after an analyst stint. Could you realistically enjoy most these perks if you did consulting, while still not hating yourself? Yeah, but that’s not the discussion and everyone is too proud to admit there are many ways to have a successful career.
Generally speaking, yes. I keep doing it because I live in the real world where living gets meaningfully more expensive annually, I someday want to stop working, and have no family money.
