How soon to quit after promotion?

Recently got promoted. Had to win the backing of lots of people at my firm (from associates to VP) assuring them I would be in for the long haul. They fought for me and I got it.

The thing is ... I don't actually want to be there. How long should I hang around before leaving? I don't have anything lined up at the moment but also don't wish to burn bridges by leaving too soon.

Senior monkeys, appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you.
