How to effectively toe the line between fratty/chill and polished/nerdy?

A struggle I've always had on the job, interacting with clients, back when I was recruiting/coffee chatting/interviewing is whether I should come across as chill, laid back and fratty or polished, nerdy and hardo. How do I effectively toe the line if I don't know a group's culture in advance? I can tell what the other guy is like in the first few minutes and mirror him, but sometimes in group settings there's nerdy/hardo guys and fratty/chill guys and I want to appeal to both groups at the same time.

Funniest

LowCaliberTalent the most sophisticated yet misunderstood comedian....I long for the day your ironic, satirical sense of humor penetrates the dull skulls of these old, close-minded bankers that prowl the depths of WSO.

I start off talking about bond-convexity and when I think the yield curve will invert again (making sure to quote Damodaran), and I end the conversation by saying a racial slur so they know Im chill like that (especially when talking to senior Citi bankers)
