How will an office perceive a Huawei computer?

Hey everyone, incoming SA here. I purchased a Huawei computer a while ago before all the restrictions were put in place. Long story short, I wanted a computer that looked and felt exactly like a Macbook, but had Microsoft compatibility because Excel and Powerpoint were driving me up a wall.

Obviously, some unfortunate political/national security events have transpired since, and now I question how a Huawei computer is perceived in the workplace. Considering my firm may not supply me with a computer once things go virtual, would this become an issue with IT / and other members of my team? Lmao

Last year my group had an intern with a huawei phone so nobody added him to the groupchat and he was the only one to not get a return offer, be careful

If you're chinese I would be pretty weirded out to be honest. If not, I wouldnt worry.

Too much narcissism. What Huawei want is national security info and science stuff, not some dumbass finance bro's tinder chat history

It would be a great choice if you were studying lib arts at a trust fund school, but relying on anti-capitalist machines if you want to get into finance is in poor fashion. You wouldn't wear dreads and a rasta drug rug to work- repping communist chinese spyware is basically the same thing

be forthcoming when asked, but don't disclose something that IT hasn't already thought of. most firms have specific computing requirements for remote work and allow their cybersecurity work to protect them. I'd argue that a VP with an old laptop using public wifi and working on a deal is more of a risk to the firm than an intern with a huawei laptop. if your firm is worried about huawei, you won't be able to install remote working capabilities. if they're not worried, you shouldn't be either. that's my answer from the job side of thing

my tinfoil hat side says I shouldn't even be replying to this post because huawei is reading everything, will discover my identity, track me down, tell all my clients I shit my pants once and then I'll be ruined unless I give them all sorts of information.
