I got fired lmao
Kind of a serious post and kind of not.
So, I got an internship that I completed over this summer and it went well. I had some free time at night and on weekends and decided to pick up a WFH call center job for some extra cash.
The work was mind-numbingly boring and straightforward. Literally said the same 2 or 3 things to customers. It got so boring after a while that I couldn't take it anymore and decided to hang up on customers when they took too long or if I didn't feel like dealing with their bullshit.
So... after about a month my supervisors catch on to the fact that it's me hanging up and dodging calls and it's not a problem with my internet. I got fired yesterday after my shift was over. Will this affect FT hiring in any way?
Is the company a financial company that you plan to apply to/work at, or some random company that needed customer service reps?
It’s bakery chain that’s known for delivering late at night. So not finance related at all, I would kill myself if I ended up in call center after going to college for 4 years.

As someone who has applied to thousands of jobs, some positions have a question phrased like this:
”Have you ever been fired from a position and if so list reason for termination.”
This is particularly bad to have to answer yes to this question. I wouldn’t recommend lying. You’re in between a rock and a hard place on this one. Also, if you do lie and get hired, this is a fireable offense if they ever find out you lied.
So overall your best chance is to avoid this question entirely. Get a job at a place that doesn’t ask this question. If you lie, you have the sword of Damocles hanging above you for the entire length of your employment at that company.
Yeah, I guess. I’m not super worried about it though. I don’t if you saw that thread about having an arrest on your record and still being able to get a job, so if that can be overcome, I’m sure this won’t be a huge issue. Just want to get others opinions on this so thanks.

Having an arrest on your record isn’t a huge deal as long as you don’t have a conviction.

op, remove from resume, NEVER mention this job to any employer. dont worry about this AT ALL
no one will go do diligence to see what you did for a few months while in college.
if they somehow discover you did work a part time call position job (not really sure why anyone other than the NSA/CIA would figure that out), they will have no way to know whether you were fired or not.
if they then ask about the position, say it was part time, and you quit as it was not in line with your goals and it was simply a part time thing for extra cash in college. Conversation over at that point.
No one will care. If you got fired from working at Coldstone Creamery junior year of high school, NO ONE WILL CARE
Also to the above poster, they would have to be REALLY motivated to determine whether you lied about being fired at a bakery shop.
Like, trying to contact former supervisors there (who will likely not even remember you to be honest).

we still can't figure out what Obama's grades were in college with the entire conservative right trying to find it out for years- you think some bucket shop investment bank has the motivation to find out if you worked at a bakery and the EXACT reason you left it?

it won't affect your FT hiring but it will affect your FT employment as you self-confessedly can't handle mind numbing and straightforward work without throwing in the towel.
Oh no I can handle boring work, I’ve done a couple internships and enjoyed them because they are relevant to what I want to do. Plus I actually enjoy real estate so Ill gladly do boring work because I get to do a lot of the fun stuff as well. I don’t know if you ever worked in a call center but it’s a different sort of boring and not all relevant to what I want long term. I just thought it would be an easy way to make few hundred bucks a week.
Damn. I worked in a call center for like a month when I had a job lined up and a lot of time to kill after college. Absolutely thankless job... and I've worked in fast food as a kid.
Also pretty hard to get fired. I got promoted my first day to a supervisor.. also had this super unruly cunt that I had to manage. I didn't even get fired when I was forced into the corner of telling her that she needed to stop being a bitch if she ever wanted to learn something new. Good times... hope she's doing well.
I worked in fast food as well, honestly it wasn’t that bad... call centers are the worst. I was WFH and did really well when I wasn’t being lazy. Honestly, only reason I got fired was that I hung up on customers and when the supervisors caught on they weren’t having it because it makes the company look bad. Which is fine and understandable. I would’ve fired me too.
