I planned to dump my girlfriend today but found a poem she wrote for Valentine's Day, now I don't know what to do?

The reason I was to dump her is because I'm simply not ready for things to get serious, and she seems ready but her poem is kind of changing my mind now :/ what do I do?

How are you not ready? Quit being a pussy; commit or don't. Neither is necessarily a good option, but either you get screwed or she does.

As a good man once said: "Never half-ass two things, always whole-ass one thing." You get it? Don't go halfway on this one.

If you are serious about dumping her and don't think you can work through/comprise on whatever the issue is, dump her now. Like right now.

Otherwise you need to consider the probability of you guys actually staying together. You wanted to dumb her but now you have been this poem, you don't. Is the poem simply playing on your short-term emotions or is it evoking a deeper level of love? So think about it, do you actually care about this person? There is nothing worse than wasting your own and/or someone else's time in a relationship that will ultimately dissolve.

You sound like you are worried about a serious relationship getting in the way of you career(insert other major life thing here); personally, that is a dumb reason to breakup. Meaningful and real relationships will work around simple issues like that. A lot of people on here will tell you that you can't manage a finance career and relationship at the same time. Those people are morons; it is completely do able you just need to know what your getting to before hand.

Also, this is all assuming you are not in HS/College. I have no advise for you in that situation, I was had no interest in any meaningful relationships in college. Complicates the shit out of the situation because of how many factors come into play post college. Will you both be in the same city? etc. I could go on but you get the idea.

No! You took the poem down! Was I the only one that read it?? I feel like it gave a much clearer picture to the situation.

If you're not feeling it, don't let some flowery prose change your mind. It sounds like you already knew how she felt before you read it so what has changed? Nothing. I've had friends stay in long term relationships where they weren't really into it just because of how much their gf "loved" them. In the end it was wasted time and hurt the girl a lot more.

Try picturing being single and living that life again. Do you feel a relief? If you just feel guilty that's not a good reason to stay.

"I know you think you understand what you thought I said but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

You want to dump your GF because you're not ready to get serious?

...seriously?

This sounds like one of those "big life regret" moments you'll have in several years when you can't find anyone who matches her, especially since you care enough to have this poem make you waiver...

...and to the insensitive people of WSO, the poem reinforces and reminds of the positive past moments; it's not the singular reason.

...and most of people here on WSO are emotionally immature / think with their penises so you're not going to get a rational decision from them.

Did you even try talking this out with her? See her response? Maybe she'll ease off a bit. That's whole f'ing point of relationships. Communication.

The point of a relationship is........communication? Okay there Dr. Phil.

And I don't think the replies sound insensitive, you just sound like a pussy.

Not trying to be mean but in my opinion, men in general are way more rational and straight-up than women.

Given that most things of a romantic nature lie outside the logical realm, I don't think reason is going to help much...

The little guy is probably going to be as reliable as anything else here...

Also I think OP is like 19

I was going to call up a call girl and then I read this and had to go puke.
