I write music at work

Hi, I write music at work. I was wondering if anyone else has a passion that they focus on on the side that they’re trying to make it big in. Would appreciate it if anyone else would share how they split their time between their passion and the grueling “work”. I recently realized your work cannot be your passion (hate this word) or what feeds your soul/your vocation. I work in Compliance, and the monotony is drowning me alive. I hate playing it safe; and would hate to keep pretending that growing in Compliance is goals. Any pointers? Please spare me your low level analyses on how “work is life”.
