If you can't fire the mods, at least fix the credits and SB's.

AndyLouis WallStreetOasis.com This situation with the mods is already pissing everyone off, and now they've started to take away the SB's and credits from people's accounts. If you guys don't do anything about the mods, at the very least you should restore the bananas. People are getting angry about this; just look at Goldie -- the guy was a beloved veteran of this site and the whole thing drove him away. With all serious intent, the people who use this site are going to leave if you don't fix it. But it doesn't have to be that way.

Please just take this notice for what it is. It is not meant to threaten or insult anyone, it is simply a respectful plea for the website to fix the issues at hand.

EDIT: For anybody in the reply section, I'm not going to leave. I stand by the site only because of the help that it's provided to thousands of college students like myself. Aside from the OT forum, the site itself and the people who post in other forums have plenty of helpful information to give. THAT is why I refuse to leave.

Dearest Primates, we made some additional changes to upvotes in order to continue to deemphasize lower quality content and emphasize / reward the industry related career and interview advice...more specifically:

SBs earned in off topic forum = 1 banana point (instead of 3 elsewhere) - this was adjusted for old SBs in off topic as well.

Each SB earned in Off topic forum only equates to 0.25 of a SB on your profile - so you need to collect 4 in an off topic thread to get 1 additional SB count on your profile

Each SB earned in Off topic forum only gives author now 0.25 of a WSO Credit (used to be 1 credit)... this has resulted in some users going negative on WSO Credits. WSO credits are what allow you to vote (users that had a lot of credits from SBs in Off topic forum, for example)....we will fix this and reset WSO Credits back to 0 (expected before end of this week or next Monday latest).

This means that you may notice your silver banana and total points may have decreased today (mine did too), however, this shouldn't be major unless you were primarily collecting SBs in the Off topic forum. Our goal here is to get better signals on what members are providing the best career advice and not those members that are "winning" the most arguments in off topic.

We realize that this is not a perfect adjustment and that the off topic forum is a great place to connect and learn more about your fellow apes, but we hope that it will allow us to properly reward members that are providing outsized benefits that align with our mission and encourage more high quality content leading into 2023.

At least ranking was retained but wow, I'm hoping this was just some bug from a new update or something and not intentional because it's super uncool.

There was no need for all these changes. That loser from buzzfeed really ruined a good thing. Career advice is important but this site should realize it would be a shell of itself without the off topic discussions. I appreciated WSO because, in general, this site has a much more mature and intelligent audience than the other popular forums of the internet. Ever since the initial post about buzzfeed, this place has gotten rather bland/stale in my opinion

That probably says more about you, and what you want out of this site, than it does about the actual content. As far as I can tell the only topics being consistently moderated/banned are the endless ridiculous complaints about diversity hiring costing someone a job and the equally endless topics about sex. If all that kept this from being bland or stale was hearing a bunch of bigots complain, then you really weren't using the site for its intended purpose.

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out the math here... so if I give someone a SB in the Off Topic forum and they only receive 1/4 of a credit, doesn't this lead to everyone basically running out of all their credits since most of the site interaction is in the Off Topic forum? I've never metagamed the website like this but this seems ill considered.
