In Need of Inspiration...
Some of you guys might make fun of me for posting this lol, but whatever, I'm in need of inspiration lately.
Inspiration sometimes comes from unexpected places...
If you guys got anything similar, feel free to post it -- I'll definitely appreciate it.
This is what I was going to post on Bonus Bananas last week before I found the clip of Cameron Diaz saying, "Fuck my ass!" Enjoy:
Uncle Eddie, it's funny you're the first poster. I found that Will Smith video by watching a video with Felix Dennis. After checking out this week's reading recommendations, I was like, "Who is this crazy looking, eccentric author on the cover." So, I looked him up on youtube...
HA! Here's Felix Dennis in a nutshell. Also inspirational:
Just Saying.

Maybe this is Felix Dennis in a nutshell: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_23/b4087085366091.htm
Enjoy!
LOL! That's the exact youtube video I was talking about!
Dude's crazy! (But, equally inspiring.)
I'm going to see that Cameron Diaz movie because: 1. her movies are generally entertaining 2. I like the content of the movie: self serving bitch gets caught in the act. I HATE that type because I'm such a nice guy [usually] and I'm glad someone is making that movie
This one does the trick for me :)
whole movie is quite good as well...
Kenny_Powers_CFA, SB for you, my man! That was an awesome commercial!
goosebumps......
.
I fking love Will Smith. Seems like a great actor, and a decent person.
Exactly! (I'll excuse the fact that he's, supposedly, a fringe scientologist.) By the way, did you guys know he turned down a full-ride scholarship to MIT?
Not religious personally but this shit gives me goose bumps:
If you need some humor:

]I'm with you on the goosebumps part. That reminded me of my college night practices in many ways.
More inspiration...

I'm a racer, 993 is my bike number. I liked this Honda video.
Thanks for sharing. It is a nice coincidence that this is the first post that caught my attention on WSO today because I came on the site to search for Chris Gardner. I was wondering if his name has been mentioned in previous threads .
Kenny_Powers_CFA: I watched Felix Dennis' video at the end of January. I was about to start an internship.I have to leave campus at 6:20 to catch my bus even though work doesn't start until 8:00 AM. I am insomniac so it is hard to wake up at 5:00 AM to get ready when I manage to fall asleep at 3:30. However, I remember Felix Dennis saying "don't say it's too early". I happily wake up at 5:00 , and take my 6:30 bus. When I enter the office, I expect a wonderful day ahead of me. I don't let anyone spoil my day or my learning experience no matter what happen. Attitude is the key to a balanced life.
My mom says she is always humming a song at work and people ask her why she is so happy. It doesn't mean that everything was wonderful at home before she goes to work. It simply means that she is here to do her job, and she will do it with courage no matter what happen. Oh, she also says to always strive to be the best at what you do. It doesn't matter if you are a maid, a VP, a janitor, a teacher. Excel in whatever you do and good things will follow through.
Why am I being ask to complete a word verification to post that comment? This is so not inspirational
Great thread for sure. I converted that first video to audio only, took out a couple of Will's quotes, strung them together and put that file on my alarm clock app on my Touch. Waking up to SportCenter just doesn't do it anymore.
People who get lucky and then rich of course will say it's because they're a genius, or have a better personality, or are somehow unique and wonderful and different. For every famous actor, writer, celebrity there are 1000 guys who worked as hard or harder, had better ethics, driver, personality, or brilliance. Some people get lucky.
The world has given me ample opportunity to practice.
That could be true, but how would we ever know? For all we know, it works in the opposite direction. Those who fail want excuses, so they say those who succeed are merely lucky...
One of my other favorite sayings is "I find that the harder I work, the luckier I get" ...
This may be going in a "count yourself lucky" direction and a little off-topic and many of you might have heard of this guy, but it's pretty special anyways.
Last year I walked on to my schools crew team. I was the slowest out of the 40 walk-ons and older than my coach. Everyday before practice I would watch this video. By the end of the year, there were only 4 of us left, and I was the fastest.
I did this knowing that the NCAA would never let me compete in a race. I never regretted it.
Econ man,
Great find! It's funny where one draws inspiration from. I mean, I never thought Will Smith would do it for me, but I remember watching that video before entering college, and it completely changed my work habits.
By the way, when did you become a Certified User? That's great, hope you keep doing well for yourself.
Thanks, man!
The story of how Stallone got the idea for Rocky and held out until the right company offered to let him star in his own creation is also a great one.

From other threads:
Big thanks to Patrick and Jorgé. I found these truly inspiring.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tom-Vandergriff-The-Movie/192361327450797…
Watch the movie on this page, Tom was a great man and the most inspriational person I have ever known.
This might be the best I've seen in a long time:
what a great thread! gracias :D
That boxing commercial was awesome, Eddie!
One of my favorite inspirational speeches of any movie
Hoosiers gets honorable mention
Actually, the best speech ever is Bluto from Animal House. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Holy shit, that was awesome.
Or this. No words, just epic beyond belief:
As someone who grew up watching Jordan, I thoroughly appreciated that. SB for you.
This shit will make you want to destroy everything around you
Nice
Like I said in the OP, inspiration often comes from unexpected places. Here's some quotes from Ben Stein:
It's amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.
Jump into the middle of things, get your hands dirty, fall flat on your face, and then reach for the stars.
Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over gain, and you will grow stronger until have accomplished a purpose - not the one you began with perhaps, but one you'll be glad to remember.
Nothing happens by itself... it all will come your way, once you understand that you have to make it come your way, by your own exertions.
So many fail because they don't get started - they don't go. They don't overcome inertia. They don't begin.
Somewhere there is a map of how it can be done.
The human spirit needs to accomplish, to achieve, to triumph to be happy.
You cannot win if you're not at the table. You have to be where the action is.
Two more:
-- parts of this one are super cheesey, but other parts have some good advicehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9EAy3Fdn3Q&feature=related -- I'm not a fan of his music, but he's surprisingly inspirational, driven, and has a ridic work ethic...
"I kept calling them til they said 'come up to the office'"
