Investing for 401(k)
Hello Monkeys,
Just wanted your take on this. I max out my 401(k). I am just starting out so my saving hasn't hit 18.5 yet. But I want to get off to a good start. Right now, the company I work for manages my portfolio. However, I am seeing that with the diversified investment, they are taking in 0.48% for fees. I think this is a bit too high? They have me invested in emerging markets, small caps, mid caps, S&P and couple more. It is diversified. My question is this, should I just put all my money in target date fund and forget about it? The fees for that is 0.11% and it holds bunch of these other investments in it already that they've put me in individually. What should I do? I am the first generation of my family to work in states, and I just need someone to explain to me how I should proceed. Any books on this? All the articles I read says invest in low cost mutual fund. How do you research mutual funds? Is it similar to stocks? I have all these questions but can't seem to find concrete answers. One article seems to contradict the previous and I am just confused. How do you invest your 401(k)? Any advise and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
