I assume "sophisticated" money managers in this scene (local "Bankers" aka war lord's son who probably went to a fancy boarding school in Switzerland & crime organizations & maybe Swiss bankers too who knows?) have figured out some strategies like
1) VC move: Invest in bunch of pirate crews, You make money if only few of them succeed. Initial Investment <<< Earning potential
2) Targeted Investment with Heavy Research: You gotta learn about the captain of the crew, his credentials, and the crew itself. Gotta check their age, health, fitness, personality red flags, etc... Only invest in crews that are very likely to be profit & actually pay up.
