Job Offer and Employment Status

Having signed my FT offer after junior summer, I'm wondering what my employment status is. I guess I can't be considered unemployed as I'm not actively looking for a job. But I also have no income for at least a few more months. My family has started to feel financial strain due to the current situation and I'm wondering if I can get a part-time job to help out or claim any benefits. Anyone have experience or know who I should talk to?
