Can anyone tell me what’s going on with LinkedIn adding stories? Can we be expecting late night intern flexes to show Associate from [BB] they have just networked with that they are worth it because they ‘grind’

YouTube added a stories format too. All these social sites rely on stickiness of their user base. If people spend more time on the platform, churn decreases and their metrics measuring users are all up and to the right. That translates into more value to their advertisers and an increase in revenue.
I haven't heard or notice any addition to LinkedIn that looks like stories. But I can't imagine how today's corporate shill will make a story interesting enough to steal eyeballs away from what's happening over on instagram.
