Looking For 2025 FT Roommates LA

Hey All,

I'm an incoming A1 at a regional boutique in Los Angeles (office location is in El Segundo) starting in mid June and looking for 1-2 roommates. I'm looking to live in Santa Monica, Venice, and Marina del Ray, but also open to other locations. Here's some info about me:

Gender: Male

Budget: ~$2,000/month

Interests: Working out, video games, movies, skiing, riding motorcycles, hiking

I'm a pretty clean and organized person who likes going out but also doesn't mind staying in. I'm also from the Northeast and looking to be friends with my roommates. If you're interested, feel free to drop a reply or shoot me at PM!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and tips for your search for roommates and housing in Los Angeles:

  1. Budget and Location:

    • Your budget of ~$2,000/month aligns well with shared housing in areas like Santa Monica, Venice, and Marina del Rey. These neighborhoods are popular for their proximity to the beach, vibrant social scenes, and relatively short commutes to El Segundo.
    • Keep in mind that rents in these areas can be on the higher side, so having 1-2 roommates will help you stay within budget while securing a nice place.
  2. Transportation:

    • If you're moving to LA, having a car is highly recommended. Public transportation is limited, and commuting without a car can be challenging, especially to El Segundo.
  3. Roommate Dynamics:

    • Your interests (working out, video games, movies, skiing, motorcycles, hiking) and your clean, organized nature make you an appealing roommate. Highlighting these traits will help you connect with like-minded individuals who share similar lifestyles.
  4. Finding Roommates:

    • Platforms like WSO threads, Facebook groups, and apps like Roomi or Roomster can be great for finding roommates in the finance or professional community.
    • Be clear about your preferences for living arrangements and ensure open communication with potential roommates to avoid misunderstandings.
  5. Additional Tips:

    • If you're considering other locations, areas like Culver City or Playa Vista might also be worth exploring. They offer a good balance of affordability, amenities, and proximity to El Segundo.
    • Start your search early to secure the best options, as housing in desirable areas like Santa Monica and Venice can be competitive.

Good luck with your move and finding the perfect roommates! If you need more specific advice, feel free to ask.
