MD made a joke
So my MD replied to an email I sent (only to me) and made a joke… would it be reasonably appropriate to sent a funny response back? I get along really well with him and joke in the office, but that’s all off the record
no, be a robot. your MD shouldn’t like you. instead report them to HR for not being professional at all times, jokes are unacceptable and any emotion other than misery in the office is out of place

In all seriousness I was asking this question more so because HR checks emails sometimes and having this paper trail could not be very good even tho it’s just a joke

Make a Gen Z appropriate response to him -- ex. call him a boomer, complain there's no union in IB, talk about how finance is causing climate change, correct him about your proper pronouns, etc

I think I got my IB offer solely because I laughed at my MDs jokes and made jokes back during the interview. He liked that I had balls.
