The great thing about King is that he proved he wasn't perfect in the way that he is currently deified. We've learned over the years, with cringe and disappointment, that he wasn't for instance the best husband. But it's encouraging to know that a powerfully flawed man could realize a perfect "Dream." To it, I am deeply indebted, because without it, I am not here in this place.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

I don't think any rational person claims he is a great "family man". His philandering ways have been known since the 70s.

To be fair to him though, being a "family man" is a very recent standard, less than 40-50 years.

Most our founding fathers had slaves and were bonking a few of them. Almost all our Presidents up till Bush II had mistresses or were rumored to have them.

Unfortunately folks can't get away with these things anymore - not in the internet age anyway.
