Been watching college sports, mainly football, and the NFL recently. One thing that keeps bothering me is how the protective gear the players wear is becoming less and less as players get bigger, stronger, faster and hit harder. On one hand I do feel bad for players who get CTE or bust a knee, but on the other when they don't wear the new protective helmets, mouth guards to prevent bite down, or any type of actual leg padding, I kind of stop caring about the injuries.
Does anyone else have an irrational sports take themselves? Can be something that's even a little annoying?
most irritating take is that barstool is entertaining, cool, or good
on your take - agree. you can feel bad for someone, but it is informed consent, no one's holding a gun to their head telling them to play
I agree Barstool is lame AF
I think PMT is pretty entertaining. Lots of funny takes and a unique way to catch up on football outside of the traditional media mahomes meat riding.
I also think Caleb Pressley is extremely witty and has a very clever sense of humor.
Yea, I think Barstool positioned themselves at one point to be the new ESPN/some sort of gambling platform where they are probably a niche thing at best. They basically are what they say they are, a website for guys in a bar who don't really have a full understanding of the sport but just yell at the screen.
Jon Jones losing to Matt Hamill for 12 to 6 elbows, but then they made them legal this year and didn't remove his loss.
Agreed. Somewhat similar to when players are suspended for a substance that then becomes legal. i.e, when Josh Gordon was continually suspended for smoking weed. Not saying I promote smoking, just crazy he could have been an all time.
Also similar to betting in sports, they use to not hold sporting events in Vegas because they were scared of even being close to gambling, now every commercial is for sports betting and we had a Super Bowl in Vegas along with teams there now.
First you say "irritating" then switch to "irrational."
I mean both in some way, very open question.
My irrational hot take is baseball players should wear their socks up to their knees again. Have some respect for the game, goddammit!
This is giving me PTSD for my baseball days where I wore my socks up to my knees like Chipper Jones and my dad yelled at me for doing so because it wasn’t respectful of the game.
Francisco Lindor has the biggest hog in all of the tri-state
Not my takes but these have always annoyed me.
“Guys that played any sport in the 70's or 80's couldn't cut it today.“
“Black quarterbacks can’t win the Super Bowl”
…Anything to do with Taylor Swift
