Most prestigious PE haircut

Ignore the title lol.

I'm a brown guy who's rocked a taper fade / mid-fade for the past 2.5 years in a securitization banking role at more of MM bank. I had a good rep starting from home during the pandemic so by the time I started full-time, I had already created a good impression and didn't care about having an aggressive haircut.

Starting a PE Associate role at a relatively more prestigious firm (think AmSec / Advent / Centerbridge / Onex). This time around, I want something that will create a good impression.

Any recommendations? Please include what you ask the barber for if the instructions may not be obvious.

akin to the phrase "dress for the job you want"

shave it off, go bald

I typically go for a mid-length hairstyle such as a backslick, ivy-league haircut, mid-part or side-part. I would avoid a short fade at all costs. A short fade or really short haircuts in general makes you look like some fuckboy who drives a truck at a warehouse.

Thanks - it can be a pain to manage so I’m thinking of getting it shorter. Dude who cuts my hair escaped Soviet Union and has been cutting hair for 50 years. He uses a flat razor (like what they shave a face with) for the whole hair. Takes an hour but it’s the best haircut that isn’t some type of fade I’ve ever had.

Depends on the length. My hair is pretty long now, I like the lettuce look - lettuce is different than broccoli! I think how you style and groom your hair will matter far more than the actual cut. Just be sure to use high-quality products, and shampoo no more than twice a week. Condition every day if you can.

If you have any friends who can line you up every once-in-awhile awhile it's a great thing to do. Just a small little trim-up on the back and around the ears. Avoid the scraggle-ness!
