Need Advice

In college I was an asshole. I understand. It got so bad I got kicked out of the student investment fund. I was drowning the pain I had on the inside with rude and boisterous behavior.

I want to get rid of it, the whole personality, and I want to learn patience and compassion. Is it too late for me?

I miss my friends, I miss my relationships, I gave up everything. I look at myself and I’m disgusted. I’m disappointed in myself, and my own trauma shouldn’t be hurting others.

Where do I start?

Give church going a try. You’ll meet great people (smart, talented, and of good character).

Two ways to approach this. Forward and backward looking. First, the vast majority of people on Earth have never met you and don’t know you’ve been an asshole. You get a clean slate to be nicer to everyone you meet from now on. On the other hand, if you care about old college friends you can still apologize. Keep it really simple and be humble. They don’t have to forgive you, but it might make you feel better.

Let's hear the story of why you got kicked out of the student investment club.

My guess: it wasn't you.  Many college clubs are culty and toxic.  You were just trying to get some experience on your resume and be done with it but you had to deal with a bunch of cliquey losers trying to turn it into a secret club.
