I'm not sure this is the right move. Bloomberg's press conference this morning is going to be make-or-break for his career. He needs to establish a clear separation of what he did from violating peoples' freedom of speech.
I think he can do it, but he needs to make a good case.

Make or break? Considering all the shit he's done before (positive or otherwise), he'll be just fine.

He's in a city of liberals and they're not going to forget this. Folks still haven't forgotten the Bonus Army under Hoover. He needs to draw a clear line of separation between first-amendment protected protest and camping.
OWS is an aftershock from what happened in North Africa as well as the protests going on in Greece. I don't think it's going to get as bad as the '60s, but you look at the conservatives who lived through that period- like Pat Buchanan- and they are quietly hoping and praying that cooler heads prevail on both sides.
Since the park is private property couldn't the management company hire a third party to forcible remove them if they chose to? They don't have to abide by any laws on the removal of vagrants from their land do they?
It's tricky because the park is required to be open 24/7 to the public. If they were in the building or behind fenced-in property, that would be different.

Cour ordered that they should be allowed back
Occupy Bay Street just occupied one of the big office buildings here on Bay Street
Exterminate them.

I support your right to protest; I don't support your right to expropriate a public park by erecting private tents. That's just not right.
