Peyton Manning's career with the Indianapolis Colts will reportedly end Wednesday.
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the team will announce the release of the four-time league MVP at a news conference. Cutting him will prevent a $28 million cap hit for the team and instantly make Manning the most coveted free agent since Reggie White.
Manning underwent multiple surgeries to fuse vertebrae in his neck over the past 19 months. He missed the entire 2011 season.

To me, the idea of Manning mentoring Luck would have been beyond ideal. Now Luck is going straight into the hot seat like Cam Newton did. Colts are saving $29M on PM though.
poor peyton. not a colts fan, but i hate to see a superstar go out like this... though i'm not surprised. anyways, he might still be signed by another team, despite reports earlier this year that his throwing arm was like a "noodle".
what really makes me sick is that Eli has more Superbowl rings than Peyton.... un-FUCKEN-believable.

Unsurprised, frankly. Interesting to see where he'll end up though. I see him in Miama, Arizona, or Washington (they started Rex Grossman and John Beck last year, for fuck's sake, and they're well under the salary cap).
As a Patriots fan, the mere thought of having peyton manning play for a rival AFC east team makes me want to vomit.
If he went to San Francisco they'd be a juggernaut (assuming Peyton's even close to his pre-injury form). Not gonna happen though, Harbaugh seems to be really committed to Smith for now.
The Jets would be the ideal fit (solid O-Line and great D to back it up), but aren't they close to the cap? Would they even be able to afford him?

Coming from a Jets fan, I think Manning is too smart and classy to play for Rex. Manning to Marshall or Fitz, now that's something that would be deadly.
