Parenting: Would you want your kids to be greedy? Why or why not?

Parenting: Would you want your kids to be greedy? Why or why not?

Personally, I would want my child to be greedy. To want more for himself. I want my child to be better than other kids and hold himself to a higher standard.

Example:  I want my child to be greedy. If we were trick or treating and we saw an unattended bowl of candy, I would want him to think "I should dump this entire bowl into my bag" but be reasonable and only grab 1 handful. But I would never want my child to think "Oh, I'm only going to take 1 piece of candy". What are your thoughts on this scenario?

Cue the Gekko speech. But as they say "you gotta get yours" and I can back that but not at the expense of harming others. And is it really greed? Sounds more like trying to push confidence and defeat the mentality of scarcity.

I don’t think you understand the concept or definition of greedy.

I know exactly what it means. I want my child to have an intense desire for wealth and power. He can not be a mediocre average person.

Greedy is a selfish desire. I still don’t think you get it. It’s like going to a bday party and going into the other room and eating all the cake.
